Welcome to the Spark. Short regular blogs with musings, experiences, tips, links or general knowledge to help #IgniteYourSpark.

The Spark is a regular journal, so to speak, from the world of SparkHub. We will bring to you in-house and guest blogs that cover a wide range of topics, tips, tricks, daily experiences or just a thought-provoking idea to help #IgniteYourSpark.

Today’s Spark is brought to you by SparkHub founder and chief igniter, Sara.

Sometimes we can struggle to really get across not just what we do in our business but why we do it. We change our marketing messaging, business plan, website copy over and over to try and hit that sweet spot that conveys our story, business mission, values and passion.

When faced with a blank page it can be daunting. Plus, “is anyone even gonna read this?”. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I find it easier to speak my message than write it. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love writing and copywriting is a huge part of my own work. But I feel I get to transmit the most passion and “why” of what I do through speaking.

So, I spoke. Late last year I was invited by the lovely Victoria Mary Clarke to join her for a chat on her Art of Living radio show on Dublin City FM. Oddly enough, I find these sort of engagements the least nerve-wrecking of all. I mean, I knew Victoria’s style from having listened to the show; this was really going to be an open conversation about me and my passion for SparkHub.ie. I’m in my element here. Stand me up in front of a crowd to pitch or deliver a speech and we have a different story. But that’s OK, public speaking is the number one fear in the world. I am not alone.

I had a wonderful time chatting to Victoria. I am sharing this today firstly as I think it gives the most comprehensive and passionate background to SparkHub and my “why”. Secondly, I hope to encourage anyone who is struggling to write their message or stand up and speak about it. Sitting behind a microphone for a friendly chat on the radio about you and your business could be the key to overcoming your thought-blocks about what it is you do and why you do it.

And please consider reaching out to people like Victoria to be featured on these shows. They are always looking for stories like yours!
